Colombia 1871-M 2 decimos

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 ANA sale, lot 44294

This specimen was lot 44294 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 2 Decimos, 1871. Medellin Mint. PCGS VF-20 Gold Shield. Solid for grade with gray toning. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type of 1870-72 is the first of this denomination to use the liberty head. Popayan did not issue this type and Bogota did not produce its first twenty centavos until 1874.
