Denmark 1645 2 mark
This specimen was lot 76406 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Mark, 1645. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. PCGS Genuine--Mount Removed, VF Details. "Jehovah" type. From the Richard August Collection." Danish crowns of the seventeenth century range from the scarce to the obscenely rare. Either they were melted extensively or the poverty of the king prevented large issues or both. The minors, such as this one from 1644-46, aren't as popular unless some unusual feature, such as the Hebrew lettering, sparks collector interest. Starting with this issue, two mark were minted thru the rest of the century. Four mark made a krone and six mark made a speciedaler.
