This specimen was lot 754 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Wurzburg. Taler, 1779-MP. Franz Ludwig von Erthal (1779-95). NGC MS-62. With legend as ruler of Würzburg only. Deep old envelope toning, slightly lighter on reverse and with some underlying luster. Sharply struck. From the Rockaway Collection." This one year type is slightly scarcer than the average thaler from this locale. It is one of three different types issued in that year.
Recorded mintage: unknown but somewhat scarce.
