This specimen was lot 681 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Passau. Taler, 1779. Leopold Ernst Joseph (1763-83). NGC MS-65. Tied with one other for finest certified. Reflective lightly toned surfaces. Sharply struck and exceptionally choice. From the Rockaway Collection."
