This specimen was lot 670 in Künker Auction 424 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €4,800 (about US$6,797 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · PASSAU, BISTUM Leopold Ernst von Firmian, 1763-1783. 3 Dukaten 1764, Regensburg (?). Schaumünze auf seine Huldigung. (Verzierung) LEOPOLD ERNEST / D : G . EXEMPTÆ ECCL : / PATAUIENSIS EPPO . & / S · R I · PPI · EX COMIT : & DNIS : / DE FIRMIAN / HOMAGIUM PRÆSTITUM / PATAUII 18 · IUNII / 1764//Fünffeldiges Wappen mit Kreuz und Mittelschild auf gekröntem Wappenmantel, dahinter Krummstab und Schwert gekreuzt, darunter Kartusche mit vier Lämmern, über die ein Arm aus Wolken einen Ölzweig hält. GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Vorzüglich. (Germany, bishopric of Passau, Leopold Ernest of Firmian, 1763-83, triple show ducat of 1764, possibly Regensburg mint, for the homage of the people. Obverse: seven line inscription with date; reverse: crowned, mantled five fold arms with cross and escutcheon, crossed crozier and sword behind, below, a cartouche showing four lambs being fed an olive branch by the Hand of God. Extremely rare, extremely fine.)"

This triple ducat, issued for the homage of the people on the coronation of the new bishop, is not listed in Friedberg. The SCWC mentions the silver eighth thaler (KM 84) and quarter thaler (KM 86) but not this or the 1½ ducat. Leopold Ernst was also bishop of Seckau (1739-63) and coadjutor of Trento (1748-58) and helped emperor Joseph II establish compulsory education in the Hapsburg dominions. His uncle Leopold Anton was archbishop of Salzburg. The bishopric of Passau was annexed to Bavaria in 1803 and 1805.
