This specimen was lot 663 in Künker Auction 424 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €26,000 (about US$36,816 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

IOS · DOMINIC · CARDINAL · DE · LAMBERG Brustbild r. in geistlichem Ornat//D · G · EPISC · PATAV · - S · R · I · PRINC · 1753 Gekrönter Doppeladler, auf der Brust vierfeldiges Familienwappen mit zwei Mittelschilden von Passau und der Herren von der Leiter (della Scala) unter Mitra, dahinter Krummstab, Kreuz und Schwert gekreuzt, darüber Kardinalshut mit herabhängenden Quasten. GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Feiner Prägeglanz, leicht gewellt, sehr schön-vorzüglich/vorzüglich. Extremely rare, fine luster, slightly wavy, very fine to extremely fine.)
Joseph Dominikus Kardinal Lamberg wurde am 8. Juli 1680 auf Schloß Lamberg in Steyr geboren und starb am 30. August 1761 in Passau. Er studierte in Rom, Bologna und Besançon und empfing am 21. September 1703 in Passau die Priesterweihe. Im Jahr 1706 wurde er Dompropst in Passau, 1707 Domkapitular im Erzbistum Salzburg, 1712 Bischof des Bistums Seckau und 1723 der 68. Bischof von Passau. Während seiner langen Amtszeit als Bischof von Passau wurden viele Kirchen und Klöster neu erbaut oder umgestaltet und von ihm geweiht. Der Fürstbischof kümmerte sich vor allem um den Ausbau des deutschen Schulwesens und unternahm etwa hundert Visitationsreisen. Am 20. Dezember 1738 ernannte ihn Papst Clemens XII. auf Vorschlag von Kaiser Karl VI. zum Kardinal der Titelkirche San Pietro in Monorio (Rom). Er ist in der Bischofsgruft im Dom St. Stephan in Passau bestattet. (Germany, Joseph Dominikus Cardinal Lamberg was born on July 8, 1680 at Lamberg Castle in Steyr and died on August 30, 1761 in Passau. He studied in Rome, Bologna and Besançon and was ordained a priest in Passau on September 21, 1703. In 1706 he became provost of the cathedral in Passau, in 1707 cathedral canon in the Archdiocese of Salzburg, in 1712 bishop of the diocese of Seckau and in 1723 the 68th bishop of Passau. During his long term as Bishop of Passau, many churches and monasteries were newly built or remodeled and consecrated by him. The Prince-Bishop was particularly concerned with the development of the German school system and undertook around 100 visitation trips. On December 20, 1738, Pope Clement XII appointed him cardinal bishop at the suggestion of Emperor Charles VI. He was made cardinal of the titular church of San Pietro in Monorio (Rome). He is buried in the bishop's crypt in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Passau.)"
This is the largest gold coin ever struck for the diocese. The bishopric of Passau was annexed to Bavaria in 1803 and 1805.
