Künker sale 293, lot 1411
the bishopric of Worms in 1648

This specimen was lot 1411 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €220 (about US$297 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WÜRZBURG, BISTUM, Bernhard der Grosse von Sachsen-Weimar, †1639. 4 Kreuzer (Batzen) 1633, Würzburg. Salvatorbatzen. Slg. Grüber (Auktion Künker 267) 5041. Feine Tönung, fast vorzüglich. (bishopric of Würzburg, Bernard the Great of Saxe-Weimar, d. 1639, four kreuzer ("saviour's" batzen) of 1633, Wurzburg mint. Fine toning, about extremely fine.)"

We note in the SCWC, under Wurzburg Swedish Occupation Coinage, similar types KM 96 for 1632 and 1634, struck in the name of Gustavus Adolphus and KM 111 for 1636-37, struck in the name of the bishop. This coin is listed under Franconia as KM 6.1.
