Wurttemberg 1806 3 kreuzer KM-491
This specimen was lot 3555 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €320 (about US$440 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1806-1816. 3 Kreuzer 1806. Ovales Wappen (Reichssturmfahne/Hirschstangen). Mit KÖNIGL . WURT . SCHEIDEMUNZ auf der Vorderseite. Vorzüglich +. Erworben im September 1994 aus dem Lager der Münzenetage H. Schulz, Stuttgart. (kingdom of Württemberg, Frederick I, 1806-16, three kreuzer of 1806. Obverse: KÖNIGL . WURT . SCHEIDEMUNZ; reverse: oval arms. Extremely fine or better.)"
This type was struck 1806 only along with KM 483 (Frederick as elector). One convention thaler was 120 kreuzer. Frederick's support of Napoleon was rewarded with promotion from duke to king in 1806, along with a substantial addition of territory as mediatization swept away the free cities and ecclesiastical states.
