Westfriesland 1650 rijksdaalder Dav-4842
This specimen was lot 43269 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $3,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. West Friesland. Rijksdaalder, 1650. Dordrecht Mint; mm: Flower. NGC MS-63. An attractive example of a type that often comes with many issues, both pre and post mint production. Presenting with a great deal of originality and some attractive toning in several areas. Noteworthy as the single finest certified example of the issue." This type was struck with this mintmark 1649-59, 1668, 1675, 1683, 1693, along with lion daalders (Dav-4870), silver ducats (Dav-4908), ducatons (Dav-4941) and three gulden (Dav-4961). These were generally weakly struck on bad planchets.
