Utrecht 1763 gulden
This specimen was lot 1525 in Jean Elsen sale 121 (Brussels, June 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, UTRECHT, Provincie, AR Nederlandse 1 gulden, 1763, Droit: Nederlandse maagd met speer en vrijheidshoed. Revers: Gekroond generaliteitswapen. Zeer Fraai à Prachtig. (Netherlands, province of Utrecht, silver gulden of 1763. Obverse: Dutch maid stands with spear and Bible; reverse: crowned arms of the generality. Very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck throughout the eighteenth century until 1794. Similar coins are known for Holland, Overijssel, Gelderland, Zeeland and Westfriesland. The Utrecht mint is still in operation, striking euros.
Recorded mintage: 218,000 for 1762-63.
