Steve Album sale 55, lot 3103

This specimen was lot 3103 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $450. The catalog description[1] noted, "UKRAINE: Republic, AR 10 hryven, 2000, Princes of Ukraine Series – Volodymyr the Great, struck at the Ukrainian mint, Kyiv, with COA of issue, Proof." Wikipedia comments, "Vladimir I Sviatoslavich or Volodymyr I Sviatoslavych (c. 958 – 15 July 1015), "the Great", was Prince of Novgorod from 970 and Grand Prince of Kiev from 978 until his death in 1015. The Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church both canonised him as Saint Vladimir." This denomination was used for numerous commemoratives in 2000, including KM 108, KM 109, KM 119, KM 120, KM 121, KM 122 (shown here) and KM 123, all struck to the same module. The hryvnia was introduced in 1996 to supersede the karbovanets (1 hryvnia = 100,000 karbovantsiv). Its sign is "₴". At present (June 2026), US$1 = 45.07 hryven.

Recorded mintage: 5,000, from the Kyiv mint.

Specifications: 33.63 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38.61 mm diameter, reeded edge.
