Sweden 1732-GZ riksdaler specie Dav-1723
This specimen was lot 30649 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Frederick I Riksdaler 1733/2 GZ AU Details (Surface Hairlines) NGC. Obv. Armored and draped bust of Frederick I right. Rev. Crowned arms with lion supporters. Well struck, with argent-gray toning, and gold highlights, over lustrous, minimally marked surfaces. The 'Surface Hairlines' mentioned on the holder are virtually non-existent and, as far as this cataloger is concerned, do not detract from the splendid overall appearance of this very scarce early Riksdaler." This type was struck 1730-33. It superseded Dav-1720 of 1723-28.
Recorded mintage: 10,000.
Specification: 29.25 g, 0.875 fine silver.
