Sincona sale 91, lot 3518

This specimen was lot 3518 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,800 CHF (about US$2,384 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ St. Gallen, Batzen 1807, St. Gallen. Wertangabe "1 BAZEN". Sehr selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Gutes vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion SINCONA 20, Zürich, Oktober 2014, Los 3513. (Switzerland, canton of St. Gall, batzen of 1807, St. Gall mint. Very rare, especially in this condition, Good extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1807 only. Another batzen of 1807 had the value stated as "I SCHWEIZER BAZEN" (KM 105). Forty batzen made a thaler. This example is missing the initial "K".

Recorded mintage: 63,000 including KM 105.
