Aureo y Calicó sale 422, lot 2763

This specimen was lot 2763 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 18 € (about US$23 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1807. Carlos IV. Madrid. FA. 2 reales. BC/BC+ [fine or better]." This type was issued at Seville 1793-1808 and Madrid 1788-1808. They were debased in an attempt to keep them inside Spain. Assayer CN is noted for 1793-1808. The minors, especially one and two reales, are much more common than the pesos. Assayer AI is also recorded for 1807.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.
