Guatemala 1807-NG M 2 reales
The first specimen was part of lot 35319 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), which sold for $646.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles IV Lot of Nineteen Colonial 2 Reales, All KM51. Various dates and grades. Average grade is Fine. From The Santa Maria Collection." The second specimen was lot 71405 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[2] noted, "GUATEMALA. 2 Reales, 1807-NG M. Nueva Guatemala Mint. Charles IV. NGC MS-64+. Presenting a gunmetal gray tone and tremendous brilliance radiating in the fields, this enticing minor is about as close to full Gem status as one can get." This type was struck 1791-1807 and is common, nearly as common as the similar two reales from Mexico City.
