This Spanish equivalent of the bust dollar was struck at the Madrid and Seville mints 1772-88. The SCWC lists the Madrid issues (shown here) as rather scarcer than the Seville issues. All are very scarce, especially compared to the enormous output of the Latin American mints. The bust type was introduced to the Spanish mints in 1772. This specimen was lot 556 in a Soler y Llach sale (Barcelona, November 2009).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .785 troy oz ASW.
