This specimen was lot 1453 in Aureo y Calicó sale 423 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 2,200 € (about US$2,849 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1732. Felipe V. Seville. PA. 4 escudos. Light small scrapes. Rare. EBC- [about extremely fine]." This rare type was struck at Madrid 1732-34 and Seville (shown here) 1731-33. The next issue of four escudos was in 1747, for Ferdinand VI.
