Spain 1732-M JF 4 reales
This specimen was lot 72245 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $528. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 4 Reales, 1732/1-M JF. Madrid Mint. Philip V. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details. Overdate variety. This 4 Reales piece shows an interesting and unlisted 2/1 overdate. The surfaces have clearly been cleaned but have since taken a pleasing light tone. The coin is well-struck with bold details that display only gentle handling. An attractive and intriguing piece that is certainly SCARCE. From the Pat Johnson Collection." This type was struck at Madrid 1728-40, Segovia 1728-29 and Seville 1728-29. It is listed as scarce to rare.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
