This specimen was lot 21379 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 8 Reales, 1620-G. Madrid Mint. Philip III (1598-1621). NGC AU-50. VERY SCARCE two-year type. Very well struck on a broad flan displaying nicely impressed details as well as a 4 digit date, bold mint mark and assayer's letter. Quite a prize for the advanced collector. Attractive toning with excellent eye appeal." This cob was issued from Madrid 1620-21. Similar cobs were produced at Seville, Valladolid, Toledo and Segovia. Segovia also issued milled 8 reales.
