This specimen was lot 1 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "Granada, Spain, 1 escudo, Charles-Joanna, assayer R to right, mintmark G to left, rare. Fully detailed AU- with contrasting sediment in crevices, thin flan with small part of edge wavy, much scarcer than the usual Seville-mint examples." This type was also struck at Cuenca, Segovia, Seville, Burgos and Toledo. None are dated. Cayón states that this type was restruck in 1599-1602.
