This specimen was lot 46071 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTH AFRICA. 3 Pence, 1933. NGC MS-63. A lustrous and lightly toned coin with moderately struck obverse but bold reverse." Threepence peices were struck for South Africa 1923-60. In 1931, the reverse was modified to read "3 D" instead of "3 PENCE" and struck in this form until 1936.
Recorded mintage: 5,135,000 + 20 proofs.
Specification: 1.41 g, 0.800 fine silver, 16 mm diameter.
