This specimen was lot 25079 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,112.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Proof Sixpence 1930, Proof 64 NGC, highly reflective surfaces with just a wisp of toning in the legends. Very rare in Proof with a mintage of 14." The six pence was struck in South Africa 1923-60. It was 0.800 fine silver until 1930 and 0.500 fine thereafter. The first issues (1923-24) had a numeric reverse.
Recorded mintage: 448,000 plus 14 proofs.
