South Africa 1930 penny

This specimen was lot 23030 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $352.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SOUTH AFRICA. Penny, 1930. ICG MS-65 RB. Mostly brown portrait with an abundance of remaining orange in the obverse fields and across the entire reverse surfaces. Fully struck and deserving of the assigned gem grade." The South African pennies of George V run 1923-36 with this subtype issued 1926-30. It is reasonably common considering the moderate mintage.

Recorded mintage: 754,000 plus 14 proofs.
