This specimen was lot 25078 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $14,687.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Specimen 1/4 Penny 1928, Specimen 65 BN NGC, razor sharp details with rich glossy brown surfaces. Extremely rare as a Specimen." This type was struck 1923-36 with several modifications to the reverse. This subtype of 1926-31 was struck for circulation 1928 and 1930-31 only, the other dates being for presentation sets. The half penny and penny are scarcer.

Recorded mintage: 64,000.
