This specimen was lot 24727 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $6,462.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Shilling 1927, MS63 NGC, nicely struck with full mint brilliance, very scarce date in this choice grade." The shilling was struck in South Africa 1923-60. It was 0.800 fine silver until 1930 and 0.500 fine thereafter.
Recorded mintage: 488,000.
