This specimen was lot 23022 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $305.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTH AFRICA. Florin, 1927. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. Cartwheel luster still dominates the fields, with well preserved devices on both sides. About as nice as they come at this grade level." The South African florins of George V run 1923-36 with this subtype issued 1923-30. The 1927 is a scarce date despite the seemingly ample mintage.
