This specimen was lot 24725 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,527.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Sixpence 1927, NGC MS65. A lovely frosty-white specimen, with a bold strike and minimally marked surfaces. A true Gem example of this conditionally rare issue. We doubt seriously if you will find a nicer example of this elusive date. From The Ted Reams Collection." The six pence was struck in South Africa 1923-60. It was 0.800 fine silver until 1930 and 0.500 fine thereafter. The first issues (1923-24) had a numeric reverse.
