Sincona sale 97, lot 3371

This specimen was lot 3371 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 1,050 CHF (about US$1,523 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Solothurn, Stadt und Kanton, Duplone 1798, Solothurn. Seltener Jahrgang. Sehr schön. Kratzer. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, duplone of 1798, Solothurn mint. Rare date, Very Fine, Scratches.)"

This type was struck 1796-98 and contained the same amount of gold as a double ducat. Quarter, half and double duplone exist and were struck in several cantons.

Specifications: 7.64 g, 0.900 fine gold, 25 mm diameter, this specimen 7.60 g.
