Sincona sale 66, lot 566

This specimen was lot 566 in Sincona sale 66 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,712 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Solothurn | Stadt und Kanton. Halbduplone 1796, Solothurn. Seltener Jahrgang. Vorzüglich-FDC . (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, half duplone of 1796, Solothurn mint. Rare date, Extremely fine-uncirculated)."

This type is listed for 1796 only and is expensive. It has the same amount of gold as a ducat. Quarter, one and two duplone exist.

Specification: 3.82 g, 0.900 fine gold, this specimen 3.80 g.
