Solothurn 1622 batzen KM-8
This specimen was lot 3472 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 525 CHF (about US$694 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Solothurn, Batzen 1622, Solothurn. Kleines Standeswappen in der Mitte des Batzenkreuzes, in den oberen Feldern S O. Rv. Brustbild des hl. Ursus mit Nimbus nach rechts, eingefasst von der Jahreszahl 16ZZ. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion SINCONA 6, Zürich, Mai 2012, Los 2577. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, batzen of 1622, Solothurn mint. Obverse: small arms over a cross, "S.O." in the upper fields; reverse: haloed bust of St. Ursus right divides the date. Very rare, About very fine.)"
This type was struck 1622only and is rare. A batzen with a cross reverse (KM 9) exists and is much more common.
