Solothurn 1622 batzen KM-9
This specimen was lot 3471 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$1,982 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Solothurn, Batzen 1622, Solothurn. Variante mit grossem Standeswappen der Vorderseite und Batzenkreuz auf der Rückseite. Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, batzen of 1622. Variety with large arms on the obverse and cross on the reverse. Solothurn mint. Very rare, Good very fine.)"
This type was struck 1622-24, 1630-32, 1637-38 and 1642 and is fairly available in worn condition. A klippe version (KM 12) exists as well as a batzen with St. Ursus on the reverse (KM 8).
