Sincona sale 47, lot 2941

This specimen was lot 2941 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$168 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND, Solothurn, Stadt und Kanton, Halbbatzen 1623. Sehr schön. (city and canton of Solothurn, half batzen of 1623. Very fine.)"

This type is listed for 1623-24. Other half batzen of the period include KM 6 (struck 1623-29, 1636, 1640) and KM 11 (a klippe version of KM 10, struck 1623 only). Batzen, dicken, half thalers and thalers also exist.
