This specimen was lot 4090 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 1550 CHF (about US$1,960 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Schaumburg-Lippe, Fürstentum Georg, 1893-1911. 5 Mark 1904. Vorzüglich-FDC aus Polierter Platte. (Principality of Schaumburg-Lippe, George, 1893-1911, five mark of 1904, Berlin mint. Extremely fine to unicrculated on a polished planchet.)"
This type was struck 1898 and 1904 only and is rare. It was accompanied by a silver two mark and a gold twenty mark. A three mark of 1911 (KM 55) ended the series.
Recorded mintage: 3,000 plus 200 proofs.
Specification: 27.77 g, 0.900 fine silver, 38 mm diameter.
