Mecklenburg-Schwerin 1904-A 5 mark Dav-730
This specimen was lot 3975 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$285 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Grossherzogtum Münzstätte Berlin Friedrich Franz IV. 1897-1918. 5 Mark 1904. Auf seine Hochzeit mit Alexandra von Braunschweig-Lüneburg. Berieben. Polierte Platte. (Grand duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Frederick Francis, 1897-1918, five mark of 1904, Berlin mint, on the dukes wedding to Alexandra of Brunswick-Luneburg, proof.)"
This type is scarce but not rare. It is accompanied by a silver two mark.
