This specimen was lot 3944 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €420 (about US$543 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN Johann, 1854-1873. 10 Mark 1873. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Saxony, John, 1854-73, ten mark of 1873, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1872-73 and is slightly scarce but not rare. The gold ten mark of Albert (issued 1874-88) is much more common.
Recorded mintage: 822,000.
Specification: 3.98 g, 0.900 fine gold.
