This specimen was lot 12113 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $258. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Wurttemberg. 10 Mark, 1873. NGC EF-45." Wurttemberg began the issue of the unified empire coinage in 1872 and quckly became a major producer with Prussia and Bavaria. This type, struck 1872-73, is fairly common tho less so than the ten mark of 1874-88 (KM 624).
Recorded mintage: 675,000.
Specification: 3.98 g, 0.900 fine gold, .115 troy oz AGW.
