This specimen was lot 2205 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €240 (about US$334 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, BADEN, Friedrich I. 1852-1907. 10 Mark 1873. Sehr schön. (Germany, unified gold coinage of the empire, grand duchy of Baden, Frederick I, 1852-1907, ten mark of 1873. Very fine.)"

This type was struck 1872-73 only before being replaced in 1875 with a design with a modified reverse. Several German states issued gold five mark in 1877 but the denomination was abandoned in favor of a silver five mark, gold being restricted to ten and twenty mark pieces. This date is fairly common.

Specification: 3.98 g, 0.900 fine gold, .115 troy oz AGW.
