Baden 1872-G 10 mark
This specimen was lot 4008 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €240 (about US$324 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, BADEN, Friedrich I. 1852-1907. 10 Mark 1872. Sehr schön. (unified gold coinage, grand duchy of Baden, Frederick I, 1852-1907, ten mark of 1872. Very fine.)"
This type was struck 1872-73 only before being replaced in 1875 with a design with a modified reverse. Several German states issued gold five mark in 1877 but the denomination was abandoned in favor of a silver five mark, gold being restricted to ten and twenty mark pieces. This date is fairly common.
