This specimen was lot 24090 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Saxony. Johann gold 20 Mark 1873-E, MS66 NGC, full resplendent luster with just the slightest hint of red overtones." This one year type is scarce.
Recorded mintage: 203,000.
