This specimen was lot 22713 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $75. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 1/3 Taler, 1854-F. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. Lustrous with a few darker specks of tone nestled into the peripheral letters." This type was struck 1852-54 and is fairly scarce in nice condition. This example yielded about one third of its catalog value. A one-third thaler (KM 1179) was also issued in 1854 for the death of the king.
