This specimen was lot 31022 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "Saxony. Friedrich August II 1/2 Vicariat Taler 1741 MS65 NGC. Though described as the 2/3 Taler type on the insert, we note that this example is actually of the 1/2 Taler issue, among which it certainly stands at the highest level of quality and preservation, ranking on par with only a single example seen by PCGS to-date. Struck to exceptional definition with a sea of blue coloration dominating the obverse left and peripheral areas and a toned down reverse that displays a near-matte finish." This type was struck 1741-42 to celebrate the elector's assumption of the vicariat, temporary ruler of the Holy Roman Empire until Charles VI's successor could be elected.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM-A907.
