Steve Album Auction 53, lot 822

This specimen was lot 822 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $390. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAXE-ALTENBURG: Johann Philipp, Friedrich, Johann Wilhelm, Friedrich Wilhelm, 1603-1625, AR thaler, 1624, an attractive specimen, F-VF." This type was struck 1623-25 and is fairly common. The auctioneers misattributed it as Dav-7369, which has the mintmaster's initials on the obverse.
