This specimen was lot 1510 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (Irvine, July 2011), where it sold for $411. The catalog description noted, "GERMAN STATES. Saxe-Altenburg. Taler, 1623-WA. Johann Philipp, Friedrich VIII, Johann Wilhelm IV, Friedrich Wilhelm (1602-39). Armored figure of Johann Philipp r. in circle with plumed helmet at r. Rv. Half-length armored busts of three brothers r. as Dukes of Saxony, Julich and Berg, middle figure holding baton. Bold strike highlights the ornate portraiture. ABOUT EXTREMELY FINE. Ex Coin Galleries October 1954 Sale, Lot 567." The SCWC lists many different thalers for Saxe-Altenburg, including Dav-7367, Dav-7369, Dav-7371 and Dav-7382 for 1623 alone.
