This specimen was lot 1511 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (Irvine, July 2011), where it sold for $411. The catalog description noted, "GERMAN STATES. Saxe-Altenburg. Taler, 1625-WA. Johann Philipp, Friedrich VIII, Johann Wilhelm IV, Friedrich Wilhelm (1602-39). Armored figure of Johann Philipp r. in circle with plumed helmet at r. Rv. Half-length armored busts of three brothers r. as Dukes of Saxony, Julich and Berg. Elegant style of portraiture. ABOUT EXTREMELY FINE. Ex Edward Gans, March 1954." The SCWC lists many different thalers for Saxe-Altenburg, including Dav-7369, Dav-7371, Dav-7371A, Dav-7373 and Dav-7374 for 1625 alone.
