This specimen was lot 2989 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "SALZBURG: Hieronymus Graf Colloredo, 1772-1803, AR thaler, 1780-M, cleaned, but still a very attractive item, XF, ex Almer H. Orr III Collection." This type was struck 1772-86 and is common in circulated condition. The Archbishop is most remembered as the first patron of Mozart but grew irritable when Mozart demanded better status than a mere employee. The archbishopric was secularized in 1803 and passed to Austria in 1814.
