This specimen was lot 74345 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Salzburg. Taler, 1779-M. Salzburg Mint. Hieronymus von Colloredo. PCGS Genuine--Harshly Cleaned, AU Details." This type was struck 1772-86 and is common in circulated condition. The Archbishop is most remembered as the first patron of Mozart but grew irritable when Mozart demanded better status than a mere employee. The archbishopric was secularized in 1803 and passed to Austria in 1814.
