This specimen was lot 33750 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russian Federation gold Proof 'Snow Ram' 50 Roubles 1992-(L) PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC. A wonderful coin with pristine surfaces and devices and a mesmerizing lustrous sparkle." This NCLT honoring the Siberian bighorn sheep (Ovis nivicola) was issued by the post-Communist regime. The fall of Communism did not alleviate the desperate shortage of foreign exchange.
