This specimen was lot 75328 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 15 Kopeks, 1915-BC. Petrograd (St. Petersburg) Mint. Nicholas II. NGC MS-67. This product from the time of World War I is amazing to behold, with a full strike and attractive white luster that is accented by almond and ruby toning. A magnificent Superb Gem that will adorn a wonderful collection." This type was struck 1915-17 and was the final issue of this denomination before the collapse of the tsarist regime. Made in large quantities and extensively hoarded, it is common today.
