Russia 1911-EB ruble Dav-293
This specimen was lot 75321 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1911-EB. St. Petersburg Mint. Nicholas II. NGC AU-55. A desirable KEY DATE, this example displays only lightly handled surfaces with some faint rub visible in the hair of Nicholas and on the reverse crown. Though mostly muted, the surfaces do still occasionally display an attractive patch of mint luster that shines through. Attractive rainbow iridescent tone hugs the reverse elements particularly prominently, in an artful display." This type was struck 1894-1915. The SCWC notes that this date was struck only in proof.
