Steve Album Auction 52, lot 1040

This specimen was lot 1040 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $420. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA: EMPIRE: Nicholas II, 1894-1917, AR rouble, 1910, deeply toned, light rim nicks, perhaps lightly cleaned, better date, VF." In 1886, the ruble was reduced to 20 grams after having been fixed at 20.73 grams since 1798. This is a scarce date for the type, which ended in 1915.

Recorded mintage: 75,009, a very scarce date, verging on rare.

Specification: 20 g, 0.900 fine silver, 33.65 mm diameter, edge lettered "ЧИСТАГО СЕРЕБРА 4 ЗОЛОТНИКА 21 ДОЛѦ Э•Б".

Catalog reference: KM-59.3, Dav-293.
